Shapiro received his medical degree at the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1988; his internship and Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 1993 and then a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Tufts/New England Medical Center in 1994. He is in a group private since 1994 and is Managing Partner and President of Orthopedic Surgery Associates which has two offices, 2828 S. Seacrest Blvd. Suite 204 in Boynton Beach Florida 33435 and 1601 Clint Moore Road in Boca Raton Florida 33487. He specializes in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, and General Orthopaedics. Dr. Shapiro has performed over 2600 Shoulder surgeries and 3600 knee surgeries. He has received the Patients Safety Excellence Award and is on the Health Grades Honor Roll. He is a former Chief of Surgery at Bethesda Memorial Hospital. He has numerous publications and presentations and was the team physician for the Major League Lacrosse team, the Florida Launch. He is affiliated with Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Delray Medical Center, Boca Regional Hospital, and Delray Beach Ambulatory Center. He is a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedics and a member of Palm Beach Medical Society and the Florida Orthopedic Society.
